Digital Learning Day is a nationwide celebration of innovative teaching and learning through digital media and technology that engages students and provides them with a rich, personalized educational experience.   The theme of 2012 Digital Learning Day is Empowering Teachers, Promoting Innovation.

The School District of Holmen is celebrating Digital Learning Day by encouraging all educators, students and parents to try something new ( not just on 2/1/2012 but throughout the school year)  to support, enrich, expand, and enhance learning and to share digital learning lessons with one another.

Some of the plans underway include Evergreen Elementary 4th & 5th graders sharing their own digital movies ,  checking out eBooks from the library catalog, exploring Kerpoof and PBS Kids, and reading a story on the new LMC Kindles/Nooks.

Sand Lake Elementary will be holding several digital learning exploratory sessions for staff including:

Holmen Middle School is focusing on Digital Age Learning all the time!

Lisa Risch, LMC Director, will be sharing the following resources with parents and students:

Destiny Quest

Infinite Campus

My Big Campus

Easybib

7th Graders are participating in Online Book Discussions via My Big Campus. They will also be the first group to use Easybib to take electronic notes as part of their Civil Rights Research.

8th Graders are heavy into National History Day research and are learning how to make documentaries, websites and do extensive online research.

6th Graders are voting on Golden Archer books after watching an Animoto video that tells them about the award.

HMS Reads students are participating in online discussions via My Big Campus as well.

Holmen High School Business Education Teacher, Kristi Johnson, and LMC Director Erin Foster will showcase anywhere anytime learning through use of My Big Campus.  Kristi enagages her students by posting her lesson related screencasts & podcasts, assignments and discussions on My Big Campus.
